Russian citizens who wish to travel to Vietnam and stay for more than 15 days, can apply for Visa through either of these two ways:
• Apply through the Embassy
Any Russian citizen who wishes to travel to Vietnam and wishes to stay in Vietnam for a period of more than 15 days, can approach the Embassy of Vietnam in Russia. The procedure of applying for Visa is quite simple when approached through the Embassy. Russian citizens will be asked to fill up the Visa application form. If you wish to travel to Vietnam and are a Russian citizen or Russian passport holder, you must have an original, valid Russian passport. You will have to submit your passport along with a passport sized photograph and self-addressed envelope. The embassy will take around five days to process your documents. Once the process is over, you will be sent the Visa in the self-addressed envelope you had submitted.
However, there are certain drawbacks in this procedure. You will have to travel to the embassy location if you reside in an area which is far from the embassy location. Also, you will have to make multiple visits to the embassy till the process is over. This can take a considerable amount of your time and energy. Also, you will have to submit your original passport to the embassy, which will be forwarded ahead for processing via postal mail. There are good chances of misplacement in this process. If you do not wish to apply through the embassy because of these reasons, the Visa on Arrival method would be ideal for you.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is a convenient method to collect your Visa. To apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent in Vietnam who can help you fill up an online form. You will be asked your personal details and the kind of Visa you are looking for. You can choose from three options – business, tourist and transit. Business visa comes with a validity of one month, three months and six months. For tourist visa, you get a validity of only one month and transit visas come with a validity of less than five days.
Once your online form is processed, you will be sent a letter of approval. Your travel agent can collect this letter of approval and forward it to you. This letter of approval is to be submitted at the Visa on Arrival counter at the airport you arrive along with the Visa stamping fees.
