Ways to Get Visa Vietnam for North Korean Citizens

North Korean citizens are required to obtain Visa if they wish to travel to Vietnam. The Visa application procedure is quite easy and can be done by two methods. Any individual who holds a valid and original North Korean passport can approach the embassy for Visa application process. Otherwise they can apply for Visa on Arrival through the online application process. Vietnam has its embassies and diplomatic missions in about 70 countries around the world, including North Korea. 

• Apply through the embassy

If you are a North Korean citizen, who wishes to travel to Vietnam, you can apply for Visa by approaching the Embassy of Vietnam in North Korea. The Embassy of Vietnam is located at:

On applying through the embassy, you will be required to fill up a form. Make sure your passport has at least six months validity from the date of your departure from Vietnam and a few spare pages for stamping. Along with the duly filled form, you will be required to submit your original passport, a recent passport sized photograph and a self-addressed envelope at the embassy. Visa fees need to be paid and it is a mandatory part of the Visa application process. You can make this payment in favour of the Embassy of Vietnam by way of money order or cashier’s cheque. 

Although applying through the embassy gives you the benefit of having your Visa in hand while travellign to Vietnam, there are certain disadvantages. If you live in an area which is far away from the embassy location, you will have to travel back and forth several times because the embassy approach requires you to pay multiple visits to the embassy till the Visa application process is complete. An easier and more affordable method is to apply for Visa on Arrival. 

• Apply for Visa on Arrival

The Visa on Arrival is more popular because of the ease and convenience it offers. You will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam to fill the online application form for Visa on Arrival. You will have to accurately state all your details and make the payment to the travel agent. The form will then be submitted for processing. Once the form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval, which can be collected by your travel agent and forwarded to you. You will also be required to pay the Visa fees to the travel agent. You can make the payment online. 

On reaching Vietnam airport, you can submit this letter of approval along with the Visa stamping fees to get your Visa. It is important to remember that the Visa on Arrival facility is offered only to those individuals who arrive in Vietnam by air. If you are planning to travel to Vietnam by land or sea route, the procedure is different. If you are travelling by land, then you must obtain the Visa beforehand and carry it with you while travelling.
