Cambodia is one of the few countries whose citizens enjoy Visa free entry into Vietnam for a limited period. Cambodian citizens are entitled to Visa free stay in Vietnam for a period of 30 days. However, if a Cambodian citizen wishes to stay in Vietnam for a period of more than 30 days, he will have to obtain Visa like all other foreign nationals. Vietnam offers simple Visa application process. Any Cambodian citizen who wishes to travel to Vietnam and stay there for a period of more than 30 days can do so by obtain Visa through these two methods.

• Apply through the Embassy

Vietnam has its embassy and diplomatic missions in about 70 countries around the world, including Cambodia. If you are a Cambodian citizen and wish to obtain Visa to Vietnam, you can approach the Embassy of Vietnam in Cambodia. The Embassy of Vietnam in Cambodia is located at:

# 440A Monivong Blvd., Phnom Penh

Telephone: 023 726 274

or

Road No. 03, Battambang province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

Telephone: (+855) 536 888 867

E-mail: consul.battambang@mofa.gov.vn

or

310, Ekareach Blvd, Khan Mittapheap, Sihanoukville

Telephone: +855-34- 934039

E-mail: tlsqvn.siha@mofa.gov.vn

At the embassy, you will be required to fill up the Visa application form. This form will have to be submitted along with a recent passport size photograph, a self-addressed envelope and your original passport. You will also have to pay the Visa fees, which can be paid to the Embassy of Vietnam by way of money order or cashier’s cheque. Once the documents are submitted and the mandatory fees are paid, you will have to wait for a few days. The embassy will take at least five working days to process your documents. Once the documents are processed, a fully stamped Visa will be issued to you in the self-addressed envelope you had submitted.

Although this procedure gives you the benefit of getting a fully stamped Visa in your hands before your departure to Vietnam, there are several problems that you might come across. If you live in a location which is far away from the embassy location, you may find this method convenient. This method requires you to pay multiple visits to the embassy till the process is complete. Also, you will have to send in your documents via postal mail. You stand to lose your documents if the package is lost in transit or is misplaced.

A more convenient method is the Visa on Arrival.

• Apply for Visa on Arrival

Visa on Arrival is a more convenient method. To apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. You will be required to fill an online application. In the online application, you will have to fill in details such as your name, occupation, purpose of visit, travel dates, duration of stay etc. Once the form is filled, you will have to submit it for processing. Online forms are usually processed in a couple of days. After the form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval. This letter of approval can be collected by your travel agent.

You will have to submit this letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter on arriving at the Vietnamese airport. Along with the letter of approval, you will be required to submit the Visa stamping fees.
