Does San Marino citizens need visa for entering Vietnam or not?

Yes, the citizens of the Republic of San Marino need a visa to enter Vietnam. Vietnam has been developing its diplomatic and economic relations with a number of countries. This results in an increased influx of people towards Vietnam. To keep this smooth, the Vietnam Visa Policy explains all the rules. Vietnam has entered reciprocal agreements of visa exemptions with 17 countries; however, San Marino is not one of them making it compulsory for San Marino citizens to get a visa for entering Vietnam. There are some exemptions that are applicable to San Marino citizens. Some of the major ones are given below:

1) Citizens  of San Marino that possess an official or diplomatic are exempt from applying for a visa for 90 days, beyond that they will have to apply for a visa.

2) A San Marino based Vietnam citizen is exempt from applying for a visa for a period of up to 5 years provided that they are able to prove their Vietnamese heritage by submitting the required documents.

3) All San Marino citizens with a Vietnamese spouse or a Vietnamese parent are exempt from applying for a visa for a period of around 5 years.

4) Children under the age of 14 years that share a passport with their parents are exempt from applying for a visa.

5) In an attempt to boost tourism, Vietnam provides visa exemptions to tourists planning on visiting the Phu Quoc islands. However, there are two conditions, they stay cannot last for more than 30 days and the visit has to be limited to those islands.

These are some of the exemptions, the applicants must get themselves familiar with all the exemptions before applying. A visa can be obtained by two routes- Embassy and VOA.

Getting an embassy visa:

Vietnam has established embassies in 70 countries, unfortunately for San Marino citizens; there is no Vietnam embassy in San Marino. To get an embassy visa, you will have to select an embassy in the neighboring countries. You will get the comprehensive list of Vietnam embassies on their website. You may compare their procedure as each country has a slightly different procedure for visa. Select the country with the least tedious procedure. Postal charges have to be considered as visiting these countries may not be feasible. Getting an embassy visa is time consuming and less economical, owing to the lack of a Vietnam embassy in the country.

Getting a VOA:

A visa on arrival is an easier method for countries like San Marino that do not have embassies. All you have to do is apply online and pay the processing fee the rest of the process is taken care of by us. You do not have to submit any documents for the process. You will get your visa on reaching one of the major airports after your passport is verified. The entire process takes only 2 days. The only downside is that VOA is limited to air travel.  As compared to an embassy visa applying for a VOA is economical, less time consuming and less tedious.
