Does Nepalese Citizens Need Visa for Entering Vietnam or Not? Nepalese citizens are required to apply visa for getting in Vietnam

Nepal is one of the few countries where Vietnam does not have an Embassy yet. However, if a Nepalese citizen or passport holder wishes to travel to Vietnam, he can easily do so by applying for Visa. The standard procedure requires an individual to either approach the embassy of Vietnam or fill up an online application for Visa on Arrival. Since Nepal does not have an Embassy of Vietnam, this can become a problem for many persons. In the absence of an embassy or consulate in a country, the citizens of the host country are required to travel to nearby countries to apply for Visa.

Nepalese citizens can apply for Visa by contacting the Embassy of Vietnam in India. The embassy is situated in New Delhi, which is well connected by air, rail and road. Nepalese citizens are required to hold a valid and original Nepalese passport in order to apply for Visa. You will be asked to fill in a form with all your details at the embassy. Once you have done so, you will have to submit your passport at the embassy along with a self-addressed envelope and a recent passport sized photograph. You will receive the Visa once these documents are processed. The embassy takes at least five working days to process all documents.

The easier alternative to applying through the embassy is by applying for Visa on Arrival. Applying through the embassy will incur you huge expenses. You will have to travel back and forth to the embassy several times because this process requires you to make multiple visits till the procedure is complete. Also, you will have to submit your passport, which will be forwarded ahead via postal mail. There are chances of misplacement and loss of your documents through this method.

To apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent in Vietnam. You will be required to fill up an online application form with all your details. This online application form can be filled up from anywhere and hence you can save a lot of time and money, which you would otherwise spend on travelling back and forth to the embassy location. Once this online application form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval. Your travel agent can collect this letter of approval for you and forward it to you. You will be required to pay the Visa fees to the travel agent. You can pay the charges to the travel agent through online payment.

Once you land in Vietnam, you can submit this letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter. Along with the letter of approval, you will also have to submit the Visa stamping fees. It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival facility is extended only to those who arrive in Vietnam by air. If you are taking the land route, you will have to obtain the Visa beforehand and carry it along with your passport. If you are travelling in a cruise ship, you can contact the cruise authorities for more information on Visa on Arrival.
