Some Information and Procedure to Get Visa at Embassy of Vietnam in Slovakia

If you are a citizen or passport holder of Slovakia, you will have to obtain Visa in order to travel to Vietnam. Vietnam offers easy Visa application process for all those who wish to travel to Vietnam for trade or tourism purposes. A Slovakian citizen can either contact the Embassy of Vietnam in Slovakia or apply for Visa on Arrival. In order to apply through the embassy, you can contact the embassy officials who will take you through a step by step procedure on filling up of required forms, payment of mandatory fees and submission of relevant documents.

At the embassy, you will have to fill up the Visa application form in English. You will have to mention the place of collection and submission of the Visa as Vietnam. Once you have filled the form, you will have to submit it along with a recent passport size photograph, one self-addressed envelope and your original passport. It is a must that you have an original and valid passport with at least six months validity and a few blank pages for stamping purposes. You will also have to pay the Visa fees. You can pay the amount in favor of the Embassy of Vietnam by way of check or money order.

The embassy will take at least five working days to process your documents. Once the documents are processed, you will be issued a fully stamped Visa. The biggest benefit of applying for Visa through the embassy is that you will have a fully stamped Visa in your hands before your departure to Vietnam. However, there are several shortcomings too. You will have to pay multiple visits to the embassy till the procedure is complete. Also, your valuable documents will be forwarded by postal mail, which means you could lose them if your package is misplaced or lost in transit.

An easier alternative to this method is Visa on Arrival. It is faster and more economical too. To apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. You will have to fill an online application form on the travel agent’s website and enter details such as your name, occupation, purpose of visit, duration of stay etc. While filling up the purpose of visit section, you will have to choose from options such as business, tourist and transit. A business Visa offers validity of one month, three months and six months. A tourist Visa offers validity of one month and transit Visa offers validity of less than five days.

After you fill up the form, submit it for processing. Online forms are usually processed in a couple of days. After the form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval. This letter of approval, along with the Visa stamping fees, needs to be submitted at the Visa on Arrival counter of the Vietnamese airport you arrive in to receive Visa on Arrival.

It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival facility is only for those travelers who arrive in Vietnam by air. If you are travelling to Vietnam by land, then it is mandatory that you carry all your documents with you. In case of a cruise ship, the cruise authorities are to be contacted for information on Visa on Arrival.
