Some Information and Procedure to Get Visa from Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore

Vietnam offers easy and simple Visa application process for any foreign citizen who wishes to visit the country. The citizens of Singapore are entitled to Visa exemption in Vietnam for a period of 30 days. However, if an individual from Singapore wishes to stay in Vietnam for a period of more than 30 days, he will have to obtain Visa like other foreign nationals. If you are a citizen of Singapore and wish to visit Vietnam for a period of more than 30 days, you can apply for Visa through any of the two methods. You can either contact the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore or apply for Visa on Arrival.

At the embassy, you will be asked to fill the Visa application form in English. You will also have to mention the place of collection and submission of the Visa as Vietnam. It is mandatory for anyone who wishes to apply for Visa through the embassy to hold a valid and original passport. Along with the duly filled form, you will have to submit a recent passport size photograph, one self-addressed envelope and your original passport. Besides submitting these documents, you will also have to pay the Visa fees. The amount can be paid in favor of the Embassy of Vietnam by way of cashier’s check or money order.

The embassy will take at least five working days to process your documents. One your documents are processed, you will be issued a fully stamped Visa. The biggest benefit of applying for Visa through the embassy is that you will have a fully stamped passport in your hands before leaving for Vietnam. However, you will have to travel back and forth to the embassy location several times before the process is complete and bear the expenses on travel and stay. Also, your documents will be forwarded by postal mail, which means you could lose your documents if the package is misplaced or lost in transit.

An easier alternative is the Visa on Arrival procedure. In order to apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. You will have to fill an online application form and key in your details such as your name, occupation, purpose of visit, duration of stay etc. You can transfer the Visa fees and the travel agent’s service charges through online bank transfer.

The online form will be processed in a couple of days, after which you will be issued a letter of approval. Your travel agent can collect this letter on your behalf and send it to you. On reaching Vietnam, you will have to submit this letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter of the airport you arrive in. Along with the letter, you will have to pay the Visa stamping fees at the counter.

It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival facility is extended only to those travelers who arrive in Vietnam by air. For those taking land routes, it is mandatory that they carry their documents along with them. In case of a cruise ship, the cruise authorities can be contacted for information on Visa on Arrival.
