Some information & procedure to get visa at embassy of Vietnam in Palau

Please be kindly informed that there has been no Vietnam Embassy or Vietnam Consulate in Palau so far. You can come in person or contact by mail to any country which has a Vietnam Embassy/Consulate that is nearest and most convenient for you.

Vietnam has been growing its diplomatic and economic relations with a number of countries. This results in increased in flow of people towards Vietnam. To make this smooth the details of the rules are mentioned in the Vietnam Visa Policy. Vietnam and Palau do not share reciprocal exemptions for visa which makes it compulsory for Palauan citizens to get a visa to enter Vietnam. There are some exemptions applicable. Applicants should get themselves acquainted with these exemptions to check if these are applicable to them. If these exemptions are not applicable to you, you will have to apply for a visa by one of the two routes: an embassy or by VOA.

Conventionally people approach the embassy for a visa. Getting an embassy visa is tricky for Palauan citizens because they do not have a Vietnam embassy. The steps are mentioned below:

1) Identify an embassy in the neighboring countries where you will be applying. Each country has a slightly different process so you should select a country with a procedure that works for you. A comprehensive list of countries with Vietnam embassies is available at the embassy website. Near Palau there are Vietnam embassies in countries including in Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.

2) Despite the process being slightly different, the basic steps remain the same. Fill the application form, affix a colored photo and send the required documents including your original passport. Visiting another country to get a visa won’t be feasible; hence, you should select an embassy that allows submission of applications by post.

3) You must select a reliable international postal service as you will have to trust them with your original passport. There are many services that provide you with tracking service.

4) A processing fee is applicable; you must enquire about the amount and acceptable currency.

5) The time taking for the process is 5 to 7 days. The postal service may add to the duration of the process.

6) Once you get the visa, check if all the details are mentioned correctly, if not, contact the embassy.

7) An embassy visa is valid for all routes of travel, namely, air, water and land.
