In order to apply for the Visa through the embassy, you must hold a valid, original Bangladesh passport. You will be asked to fill up a form in English. Also, while filling up the form, mention the place of submission and collection of the Visa as Vietnam. Your passport should have at least six months validity and a few blank pages for stamping. Along with the form, you will be required to submit a recent passport size photograph and a self-addressed envelope, so that the Visa can be sent to you via postal mail. Once all the forms are filled, these documents and your passport will be submitted.
The embassy takes around five days to process the documents. Besides, filling up the forms and submitting relevant documents, you will have to pay the Visa fees. You can know the exact amount from the Embassy officials. The payment can be made to the Embassy of Vietnam through money order or cashier’s cheque. Once the payment is received and the documents are processed, your Visa will be sent to you via postal mail in the self addressed envelope you had submitted. This can be fixed to your passport for easy entry into Vietnam.
The major benefit of applying for Visa through the embassy is that you have the Visa ready in your hand before you leave for Vietnam. However, there are a few disadvantages in this system. Applying through the embassy will require you to pay multiple visits. This is difficult for those who live far away from the embassy location. Travelling back and forth multiple times will require a lot of time and energy. Also, you will have to submit your original passport, which will be sent ahead for processing through postal mail. There are high chances of loss of your documents due to misplacement.
It is for this reason that more and more people are now applying for Visa on Arrival through online application. The procedure is quite simple and is quicker as compared to the embassy method. You will be required to key in your personal details and make the payment. This payment can be made online. Once the online application is processed, an approval letter will be sent to you. This approval letter can be submitted at the Visa on Arrival counter at the Vietnamese airport you arrive in along with the Visa stamping fees to collect your Visa.
It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival procedure is offered only to those who travel to Vietnam via air. If you are taking land routes to enter Vietnam, you are required to carry all relevant documents with you while travelling.
