Does a Cyprus citizen require a Vietnam visa?

Currently only the citizens of the below mentioned countries are only allowed visa free entry into Vietnam for an allotted period of time beyond which they are required to apply for a Vietnam visa. Also this visa free entry and stay can only be valid if the person from one of the below mentioned countries leaves Vietnam after their visa free stay period is over, for a minimum of 30 days before coming back to this country. Only then can he/she avail for the visa free entry other than which they are required to apply for a Vietnam visa if there is less than 30 days break between two consecutive visits to Vietnam.

The countries which are allowed visa free entry and stay into Vietnam currently are:

• Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand: visa free stay for 30 days

• Philippines: visa free stay for 21 days

• Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Japan and Korea South: visa free stay for 15 days

• Brunei and Myanmar: visa free stay for 14 days

As can be well perceived, Cyprus is not on the list of visa free countries for visiting Vietnam and hence, all passport holders of Cyprus are required to apply for a Vietnam visa.

Depending on their purpose of visit the Vietnam visa for a Cypriot citizen can be one of the following three types:

1. Tourist Vietnam visa: a Cypriot citizen will be given this type of visa if he/she is visiting Vietnam for vacationing purposes only and aspires to sightsee around the country. These visas remain valid for a month only.

2. Business Vietnam visa: this type of visa will be allotted to a Cypriot citizen if he/she wants to conduct business activities in Vietnam. These visas can have validity somewhere from 1 month to 3 months.

3. Transit Vietnam visa: this visa type is allotted to people who wish to pass through Vietnam and visit another destination from Vietnam. These visas have a very short validity of 5 days only, and are only allotted on condition that the traveler exits to a third destination from Vietnam.
